]]> The depeche-mode.com web site has made a round up of all the Depeche Mode news they could get their mitts on and things look bright for the ‘black swarm’ herd. The band will hit the studio in March to work on a few pre-produced songs that songwriter Martin Gore has been working on . Together, he will be working with Sie Medway-Smith (Erasure, Client, Depeche Mode)in the home studio of Gore which is located in Santa Barbara, CA. Along with some of those songs, rumor has it that they may add a possible inclusion of some Dave Gahan’s material.

Also it seems a release date has been projected, since EMI Spain stated that Mute Labels are hoping to have the album ready ‘at the end of this fiscal year’; just in time for Christmas. A tentative date of around November 25th has been communicated to retailers and media in Spain via the IFPI owned operation Promusicae (A retail newspaper/magazine). A tour would be announced in the early fall of 2008, with pre-sales in September or October. The actual tour would not start until early 2009. Lots of news, but all unconfirmed, although depeche-mode.com is known for having respected and trustworthy sources.

Wonder how Gahan feels about this or if he is even personally included. Who knows right now but we will see in the near future on what the plans are for this hopefully knock-out of an album.

]]> Depech ModeEMI/Mute is loosing around 10 acts (possibly) and one such band is Depeche Mode. Reuter’s news article stated that Depeche Mode is going to drop the label so they do a “different” approach with how they release their music. Also, the article addressed that Depeche Mode didn’t need a major label to fill arenas and have DJ’s fill their playlists with new tracks.

This is all very odd considering Depeche Mode has been very close with Daniel Miller, the owner of Mute, and they would often have a 50/50 deal and be as much responsible as the label was when it came to returns and investments. I’m not the only one bugged about this news since it doesn’t make that much sense. I mean if someone wanted to go indie, especially Depeche Mode, why would they give this up just so they can be the number one boss?

Seems awfully fishy, but eh, I never did enjoy Reuters.
