Combischrist  is one of the first bands to not re-insert me back into the industrial genre but has been able to keep me here with his fantastic music! Maybe it’s the hard “I’m going to eat your spleen” beat or the the “sneer” in the lyrics that keeps so many, including me, coming back for more. It’s hard to say since as stated before, Combichrist is in a league of its own.

Early this year, S:Z self-released their powerhouse debut ‘The Example‘. Combining the hard edge of the likes of Terrorfakt with the controlled mechanical rhythms of Haujobb and adding hardcore stylized vocals, ‘The Example‘ is quickly making a name for S:Z and bringing them tons of new fans. S:Z has also hit the road performing all over the United States in support of their debut. In March of 2008 they played at the acclaimed Blacksun Festival alongside such artist as Assemblage 23, Cesium 137, Seabound, and Alter Der Ruine, and will soon be opening for Accessory on select dates of their west coast United States tour.

As they round out the Crunch Pod roster, S:Z will be releasing their label debut in early 2009. What you can expect is an album that will be aggressive, poignant, and passionate this is only the beginning.

Checking out their previews, [syndika:zero] reminded me a bit of Juno Reactor from the days of Mortal Kombat. Not saying that their sound is completely like that but it gave me an enjoyable flashback to that  movie. “YOUR SOUL IS MINE!!!” These

mates seem like it will have a great future ahead of it if they can reach enough listeners in my opinion. Their song “Zodiac”(The Instrumental Demo Version) is defiantly a beat that will make you want to shake your ass.. and watch yourself!

Their song “Deceit” and the Instrumental Demo Version, have that angry beat that’s able to make even the most ‘hardcore snob’ in the club get their feet on the dance floor and move to it. These mates are really something that needs to be sampled and taken into deep consideration when adding new music to your collection!

June 10th, 2008, marked the digital release of Italian multimedia vocalist/composer Constanza’s ever aggressive and thought provoking, “Just Another Alien”.

The idea for “Just Another Alien” came to Constanza after a friend’s recent brush with US immigration services. After his detainment and eventually denied entry to the United States, Constanza began to wrestle with exactly it means to be displaced in the United States. Though now an American citizen herself, Constanza, recalls a time when she was just a visa-carrying alien herself when she stated that:

“America is a land of opportunity that many people never get to see because of certain laws that prevent foreigners from obtaining a visa. I wrote this song to make people aware of what our [The USA's] government expects from its international citizens and to bring attention to how much it lets the native citizens get away with.”

The lyrics of “Just Another Alien” are taken directly from U.S. immigration form DS_156 and repeatedly begin with the line “have you ever…” They paint a vivid picture of the type of ‘American’ this administration expects, and what type will be denied access:

“Have you ever been arrested or convicted for any offense or crime, even though subject of a pardon, amnesty or other similar legal action? Have you ever unlawfully distributed or sold a controlled drug, or been a prostitute or procurer for prostitutes?”

It goes on to ask the most poignant question of them all, “Have you ever been a human being?”

Constanza burst onto the scene in 2003 as the featured vocalist for the tripnotic superstar Tricky and was found on Tricky’s album ‘Vunerable‘.

Constanza’s album ‘Sonic Diary‘ contains many songs that tackle a variety of international societal issues that weigh heavily on her mind from immigration (Just Another Alien), to women’s rights (Burqa, Back Into My Mother’s Womb), to the use/abuse of medicine (Medicine) and, on a more local level, a song dedicated to Sean Bell, the young man shot to death in Queens, NY by police officers in late 2006 (50 Bullets).

Though some do stand out and the reason they do, is because they add something different to an already explosive and highly saturated experience. Though it can be hard at times to find these sites in the midst of it all, there is one that is so small in topic yet the crowd it is gathering is enormous… and for good reason. The site is known as OurStage and it is devoted entirely to Indie Music and what the FANS have to say.

Yes that means you folks.

Upon recently finding this site, it is something that is still surprisingly small for such an explosive topic, I.E. Music. It deals will all types of genres as well as expand on helping artists get some spare cash into their pocket from their music.

For The Musician

It helps even the field with the Major Labels, by allowing musicians to have their songs rated, reviewed, and sold. They also allow a way for Musicians to get in touch with their fans and post updates on news, events, and upcoming albums before a release. They can even create customized Banners and add their OWN favorite band list on current songs and older songs from bands on the site.
Musicians also compete in Battles on this site that fans and any user can cast their vote in. Bands have individual song rankings and can even win $100 – $1000 dollars every month depending on their songs ranking at the end of the month. Talk about an incentive to bands to do their best and produce that “New Sound” everyone will enjoy.
The site also has a game to where you can pose as a Scout Talent and see if you have what it takes to see what the people will want in music. That adds to the addiction of this site. OurStage.com adds so much to such a simple thing as talking and listening to music. The site is very easy to navigate and very easy on the eyes. Not to mention it’s hard to WANT to leave the site and even go to Myspace.com.

For The Fans

To add to the versatility of this site, users who do not have their own band and just want to find some new music to enjoy, OurStage.com has everything a person would need and much more. A Fan can join ‘fan groups” as well as add bands and other people as friends for this site. You can leave comments just like in Myspace, Vampire Freaks, and Face Book. Plus users can rate not only individual songs but Music Videos, and take part in helping promote any band they choose.

Fans can create play lists of their favorite songs and add them onto another site with a widget they create. They can also create different play lists for Recommendations, Personal Favorites, and have a choice to add songs manually or via the “smart option”. Fans can also blog, Show their favorite Videos on their profiles, and even add a widget that shows how many times they’ve judged a battle. If a person joins and then later on establishes their own band, their account can be upgraded for more options that are targeted for bands, free of charge.

OurStage.com Also gives away a free song to download daily and it can be found on your own person profile. This site is a great way for a band to get their music out and a fabulous way for fans to show their support. Not to mention the way the site is developed, both Fan and Artist always have means to hear other types of music that could have never been heard by either on their own.

The best part about this extremely addicting Web 2.0 site isn’t in the fact that it’s 100% Free, but it’s a means for anyone interested in music to expand their horizons and help bands with that ever needed “next step” in getting noticed… or that extra needed sold album and promotion. Compared to Myspace Music, OurStage.com, Breaks its back, hands down.

Can you guess it? Well that doesn’t matter since I’ll tell you anyway. The original name of this duo was Krystal. The band soon started making its way in the music scene winning the international Cravefest video awards in 2007 and doing concerts in France and Switzerland. That very same year, the duo signed with the Belgian Record label Alfa Matrix and renamed itself DUN DUN DUN…

…Krystal System.

Their fore-coming debut album ‘Underground‘ will reveal a diversified panel of heavy electronics, catchy filtered female vocals, dynamic guitar riffs, melodic-synth-sequences and combined overall with an original indie rock feel.

While, rhythmically, there are moments reminiscent of their old favorites Os Mutantes and the Birthday Party, ‘Velocifero‘ cycles through a wide swath of emotion, from sentient and blissful (“Tomorrow“) to forthright and impassioned (“Deep Blue“). “Predict The Day,” which starts off with a faint, whistled melody and crescendos into a bounce-rock onslaught of programmed hi-hats, background vocals, and jagged guitar, typifies the album’s graceful charge against the status quo.

The reason being is this new album all started with a line-up change as musician Mariusz Gryciuk has, as we all know, departed from the group. This split pushed Rafal Tomaszczuk (lead singer) into exploring new grounds and essentially into new found emotions. He discovered a deep dichotomy in his inner self as well as a place that is described as “somewhere in between the contradicting worlds of Love and Sickness“.
