The first edition is a, Limited Double Digi-pack, with different artwork, one bonus track named, “Age of Mothers”, a different version of the song “Scorpion Flower“, a bonus DVD containing all video clips from “Memorial” plus the Making Of footage to “Finisterra” as well as three live-event clips from last year’s performance at Wacken Open Air festival which was located in Germany.

The second edition, The Jewel Case Edition, to which the band hopes to add at least another bonus song. Vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen (Agua De Annique and The Gathering) makes a guest appearance in the song “Scorpion Flower” and sings a duet with Fernando Ribeiro. All other female choirs are performed by the Crystal Mountain Singers which is composed of Carmen Simões of Ava Inferi, Sophia Vieira  of Cinemuerte and Patrícia Andrade of The Vanity Chair. Niclas Etelävuori (Amorphis), was the dedicated bass guitarist. The Jewel Case Edition also features exclusive artwork by Seth Siro Anton of Paradise Lost.

I have met others who prefer the Manson Version, but I think that is because they heard that one first. However, one of the MAIN reasons on why I find this song so enjoyable is because of the fact the two artists came together and produced this song.

Anyone can tell that this Rasputina song has a harder hitting beat; more so than normal. This is what makes it addicting. Now the bigger and harder hitting beat of course came from Manson’s remix, but the ladies seductive voices is what makes the song have a unique bite and fantastic allure.

Now for the break down of the song. Right off the bat, as soon as the first string of the dust guitar is struck, the beat sends out an aggressive yet foreboding feeling yet at the same time the allure from the consistency of the bass guitar can leave the listener yearning to hear more… as if it’s addicting.

Now there are a few lyrics that extend the allure and add a dark seductive tone to the song: “Hey pathetic fool, you do not see this curse, it could be a blessing… in disguise. Hey little melody, I found your fatal trace that led me to your… hideaway..”.

Why is this alluring and darkly-seductive? Well that is easily answered if you relate it to raw emotion and giving yourself to another. I don’t mean by the horizontal mambo, but rather, when you trust somebody so much that you give everything you have to them. What is more dark and seductive than when you give yourself to someone just to see where they take you, I.E., “You do not see this curse, it could be a blessing… in disguise”.

On top of that everyone wants to know what someone else is thinking, especially if it has anything to do with them. So once a person gives themselves up to someone else, that includes their thoughts; “I found your fatal trace that led me to your… hideaway…” Everyone’s innate hideaway is their mind, their dark unknown, hideaway.

That is why those lyrics make this song so addicting, but then again, the beat helps.

I am addicted to Lacuna Coil’s song Cold Heritage! This song has been in my media files for the longest of times, but until recently I have journeyed back to them and feel as if I have discovered a new song!

Now the song starts off slowly with a beautiful solo guitar and then adds a second guitar faintly in the background. Just as this soothing rift grabs the listener’s attention, Christina Scabbia’s soul touching voice enters into her breath taking lullaby. Now enter the drumming beats that would seem to be pure industrial to “kick it up a notch”.

If you think that is the best part of the song, you’ll be in for a surprise that will leave you grinning for the rest of the day.

Not only is Christina Scabbia extremely stunning to watch in concert and very appealing to the eyes, all of that is nothing compared to this muses vocal talent and ear pleasing bliss that would even leave the most hardened psycho biker flat on his back.

Enough of me describing this song, since I can only do it so much justice, so as a result I will let your ears enjoy the ecstasy that I have had during this 5 minute and 30 second song which only the band Lacuna Coil can give birth to.

Upon searching for new talent among the plethora of want-to-be industrial producers, I stumbled upon the band called Collide. Now they may not be just out of the garage or basement for that matter, but they aren’t exactly the most widely known either. From what I have heard, this band has potential.

Though some of their songs like Euphoria could use some more UMPH in the beat, it is still a fairly decent song to fall asleep to. It’s more ambient than anything else. That isn’t the only song that can be labeled more “ambient” than industrial. Their songs “Halo” and “Ocean” are prefect examples and great songs overall if you enjoy the more mellow side of industrial music which is, ambient. Now their songs “Transfer”, “Crushed”, and “Razor Sharp” are more geared toward that tantalizing synth beat that I personally bite my bottom lip to hear. Plus this band is most definitely into the Gothic genre… rawr.

As stated earlier, this band has great potential to bring more to the genre due to the already solid (though few) listeners, and a knack to give industrialists a beat they can truly feel in their core. I can’t wait to see what else this band has to offer and ultimately become a bigger name within the industrial pool, though; I do hope it’s soon.

Angelspit is a glorious band. The song 100% can be found on Asleep By Dawn – DJ Ferret’s Mix #2 as well as on their official album Krankhaus. The song is simple yet seductive, short and to the point, and outright insane.

This song can give you a quick fix if you are in need of an electro beat and an attractive female voice. However, if you are looking for a song that makes sense, you are better off looking some place else.

Now as for the music video (if you can really call it that), well since when did you hear this song on Ultraviolet? Any one who would try to fuse this song with UltraViolet needs to be taken out and beaten BEFORE broadcasting it.

For one, speeding up the fight scene makes it look even worse than it already is. It looks like someone managed to press the fast forward button and lost the frigin remote. Even with the fight scene sped up, it STILL doesn’t match the bass from the song and therefore looks like… how would I put it lightly… ah yes, CRAP.

Also, replaying the same move twice or more in a row very rarely looks appealing to any viewer and should be avoided. Seems this person never got the memo and put it in twice.

What a prick.

The ONLY good thing about this fan made music video is that it’s comprised of fights scenes and nothing more. That is a bonus since it keeps the viewers eyes peeled to the video. The only downfall is it fails to match up to the tempo of the song. Now if it did… well it would be a bit more pleasant on the eyes of everyone.

Emilie Autumn has been amazing the masses since her childhood. That is of course to be expected since she is a child prodigy on the violin. Her jaw dropping blend of gothic style, beats, and her “spirit fingers” on the violin are nothing less than spectacular.  

The song Opheliac is off the dun dun dun… Opheliac album. Makes the song easy to remember, now doesn’t it? Silly prodigies, always coming up with the most simple yet genius tactics to sell their products, and possibly be passive aggressive about all of it.

I do admit the first time I heard this song I hated it due to the fact that dear ‘ol Emilie tends to stress and come off as “forcing” her voice to hit a note. This is all a ruse. She knows how to sing. Now after finding this out I had a change of heart to the song. It seemed like there was an inside joke within the song now and I felt like I had a more personal touch to the song. Plus, I looked up the lyrics and since it was so, oh how do I say it…. Smartass-ish… my heart began to flutter and a feeling of euphoria flowed through out my body. 

Well okay a bit dramatic but it gets the point across of “I liked it…”.

If you like the bands of London After Midnight, Midnight Syndicate, hell even the classic composers such as Beethoven, Bach, and Tchaikovsky, then you should definitely take a look at the ex-band mate of Courtney Love.  

Plus, she’s a European Goth who has the balls, (Figure of speech people…), to come up with a genre of music to call her own: Victoriandustrial. Any Questions?
