Constanza’s FREE Preview of ‘Sonic Diary’!

June 10th, 2008, marked the digital release of Italian multimedia vocalist/composer Constanza’s ever aggressive and thought provoking, “Just Another Alien”.

The idea for “Just Another Alien” came to Constanza after a friend’s recent brush with US immigration services. After his detainment and eventually denied entry to the United States, Constanza began to wrestle with exactly it means to be displaced in the United States. Though now an American citizen herself, Constanza, recalls a time when she was just a visa-carrying alien herself when she stated that:

“America is a land of opportunity that many people never get to see because of certain laws that prevent foreigners from obtaining a visa. I wrote this song to make people aware of what our [The USA's] government expects from its international citizens and to bring attention to how much it lets the native citizens get away with.”

The lyrics of “Just Another Alien” are taken directly from U.S. immigration form DS_156 and repeatedly begin with the line “have you ever…” They paint a vivid picture of the type of ‘American’ this administration expects, and what type will be denied access:

“Have you ever been arrested or convicted for any offense or crime, even though subject of a pardon, amnesty or other similar legal action? Have you ever unlawfully distributed or sold a controlled drug, or been a prostitute or procurer for prostitutes?”

It goes on to ask the most poignant question of them all, “Have you ever been a human being?”

“Just Another Alien” predates Constanza’s album ‘Sonic Diary‘, but only by four weeks. Though it can be found online now and the official release date for ‘Sonic Diary‘ was set for July 8^th.

Here is a bit more on Constanza’s background.

Constanza burst onto the scene in 2003 as the featured vocalist for the tripnotic superstar Tricky and was found on Tricky’s album ‘Vunerable‘.

Constanza’s album ‘Sonic Diary‘ contains many songs that tackle a variety of international societal issues that weigh heavily on her mind from immigration (Just Another Alien), to women’s rights (Burqa, Back Into My Mother’s Womb), to the use/abuse of medicine (Medicine) and, on a more local level, a song dedicated to Sean Bell, the young man shot to death in Queens, NY by police officers in late 2006 (50 Bullets).

Blood n Tongue Reviews To Check Out!

This long form “hard” ambient composition was created using only an acoustic guitar as the sound source. The instrument was vibrated, bowed, plucked, strummed and otherwise abused with minimal use of post-production effects (compression, EQ, delay & reverb) to retain the
natural sound of the source. Each layer was recorded in a single, uninterrupted take. The end result is roughly equivalent to a relaxing afternoon in a sawmill.

God Module – Victims Among Friends Lyrics

Originally I wanted to share the lyrics to God Module’s “Transcend” song which is found on the Perception album, but the lyrics are nonexistent it seems. So upon searching for a similar yet more exhilarating song than the one stated above, I came across the song “Victims Among Friends” song.

It’s longer and actually easier to understand throughout the entirety of the song and it still has the great excerpts that is found in many industrial and aggrotech bands, (and which 9 out of 10 times, it’s the sultry voice of a faceless temptress).

God Module’s song “Victims Among Friends” can be found on their album called Victims Among Friends … Figures.

Rasputina – Tourniquet Lyrics

I believe Marilyn Manson may have came out with this song prior to Rasputina, though, I’m not quite sure and honestly, I don’t give a crap. This version of “Tourniquet” is better preformed and the beat is more interesting in my opinion…

I have met others who prefer the Manson Version, but I think that is because they heard that one first. However, one of the MAIN reasons on why I find this song so enjoyable is because of the fact the two artists came together and produced this song.

Anyone can tell that this Rasputina song has a harder hitting beat; more so than normal. This is what makes it addicting. Now the bigger and harder hitting beat of course came from Manson’s remix, but the ladies seductive voices is what makes the song have a unique bite and fantastic allure.

Placebo – Running Up That Hill Lyrics

I listen to a slight bit of Placebo but I haven’t heard of this song until a few weeks ago. It’s interesting, though, I think with the songs buildup, he could have expanded it and given the song a bit more “UMPH”.

It’s a good song nonetheless. Of course trying to figure out who exactly this type of song could relate to is rather difficult. I mean the mate could be referring to a lost loved one or he could be singing toward a general emotion.

The songs holds a lot of truth’s with how society works today. One such truth is when he sings: “So much hate for the ones we love…”

But I believe the best part of the song is the very beginning with the Indian-like drum beat which slowly has a fade in with a piano. Great song to relax to and mediate with.

VNV Nation – Epicentre Lyrics

Now this song is lengthy, and it can get annoying if you have a really bad day and aren’t in the mood to sing the same lyrics in what seems to be an almost repetitive manner. Though this is more toward the end of the song then anywhere else.

Nevertheless, VNV Nation has out-done themselves when it comes to “Epicentre“. This song can be found on the Future Perfect album. This song has been a huge hit since it’s release on the 28th of January 2002.

Hehe, 6 years old and the song is STILL kicking ass. I have recently heard it again at a club in town. Talk about a frigin long song to dance to. Thanks a lot Mr. DJ… Prick.

Diary of Dreams – The Plague Lyrics

I’ve always enjoyed this song, and frankly the addiction kicks in every time I listen to this glorious song. It also reminds me a bit of Type O Negative from the singers voice, and on top of that, it’s fun to yell “HEY!” throughout the entirety of the song.

Now for the break down of the song. Right off the bat, as soon as the first string of the dust guitar is struck, the beat sends out an aggressive yet foreboding feeling yet at the same time the allure from the consistency of the bass guitar can leave the listener yearning to hear more… as if it’s addicting.

Now there are a few lyrics that extend the allure and add a dark seductive tone to the song: “Hey pathetic fool, you do not see this curse, it could be a blessing… in disguise. Hey little melody, I found your fatal trace that led me to your… hideaway..”.

Why is this alluring and darkly-seductive? Well that is easily answered if you relate it to raw emotion and giving yourself to another. I don’t mean by the horizontal mambo, but rather, when you trust somebody so much that you give everything you have to them. What is more dark and seductive than when you give yourself to someone just to see where they take you, I.E., “You do not see this curse, it could be a blessing… in disguise”.

On top of that everyone wants to know what someone else is thinking, especially if it has anything to do with them. So once a person gives themselves up to someone else, that includes their thoughts; “I found your fatal trace that led me to your… hideaway…” Everyone’s innate hideaway is their mind, their dark unknown, hideaway.

That is why those lyrics make this song so addicting, but then again, the beat helps.

I just found this whole song hilarious and it needs to be in the archives of Industrial Addiction. The song is Boys & Girls by Fear Cult. This particular version can be found on Psycho Tina’s Hell House of Horrors album. There is also another remix found on the 2nd disk of This is Neo-Goth. The remix is called the Floor Slammer Remix by Julian Beeston.

Talk about a long frigin remix name.

NIN – The Fragile Lyrics

It’s funny how sometimes you can forget about certain songs that you love and used to listen to on a regular basis or say “Hey! I lovvvvvvve that song!”

Nine Inch Nails – The Fragile just happens to be one of those songs that I completely forgot I had (and loved) until recently when I was out and about…Okay fine, I don’t get out much…

…BUT I was kidnapped and taken to Ihop, which on the way back from Ihop, the song came on along with another long lost favorite, Right Where it Belongs. Both of these songs are very well composed, though even though I do love them, I can’t listen to them as continuously compared to other songs such as Panzer AG, Blaqk Audio, or Puscifer.

Celldweller: Take It and Break It Volume #2 – Frozen Remixes

Klayton from Celldweller is on his third remix contest from his personal label FIXT. During these contest’s, music producers from industrial to EBM to drum & bass to IDM and all points in between, come to put their own taste on the selected track. This contests track was Frozen. Just as the other contests stated, there will only be three winners chosen out of hundreds of submissions.

First place was the As Ember mix by Brent Young. A hard-hitting industrial mix full of searing synth manipulations amid fields of ambient bass pads, it’s no wonder this mix won first place, bearing only the slightest resemblance to the original song while staying true to the elements that made “Frozen” so appealing in the first place.

Second place belongs to Copy Paste Repeat’s remix. This remix contains a bombard of caustic break-beats stipulated with vocal glitches that can send many drum & bass fans into a rabid, arm raising frenzy.

Third place went to Skeel’s Mass Panic mix. Ilker Yücel of ReGen Magazine states that Skeel’s remix “recreates the song with an epic heavy metal guitar leads, classically-inspired synth arpeggios, and glitch-laden vocals; if this is an indication of Skeel’s own work, then fans of industrial metal and even progressive metal would do well to check this artist’s original material out.”
