The B5Media network:

A Bit Confused…

There is a band called LOWE, and the word is (not me saying this but direct from the band’s myspace..), is that this band has:

“quickly earned them the reputation as the new hope for Swedish pop. The band has been compared to such artists as Depeche Mode, New Order, Keane and A-ha.”

Now at first that is all rockin considering I love Depeche Mode, but this next part is the confusing part:

“The music can be described as emotional pop, contrived with electronic elements.”

Now wait a minute… wouldn’t that be perceived as relating Depeche Mode to “Emotional Pop”?

Honestly I hope I am wrong, otherwise these people need to get their categories correct. Depeche Mode is FAR FROM EMOTIONAL POP.

What the bloody *&^$. Seriously, that is just blatant disregard for another bands sound if that is what they are saying. I have listened to the songs that LOWE has on their “space” and I can slightly see why they may see a similar sound to Depeche Mode… slightly.

I guess they can be related to the “Violator” album of 1990… not to mention they are listed as “Pop / Alternative / New Wave“.

Perhaps I am wrong but still when they hell did Depeche Mode become related to “Emotional Pop”. To me that’s just a slap in the face.

What do you mates think about this?

As Always, Here is A Fix.

I’d like to check out LOWE (sounds vaguely like a hardware store). It’s not every day that you hear of a band with a sound compared to a-Ha, a somewhat obscure (these days) 80’s bad with a penchant for hitting insane falsetto glass-shattering notes. I’ll check them out.

Haha yeah I know.. I figured they were having a hard time coming up with a band name so they looked out the car window and BAM there was LOWE’S!

Then again, this band is a UK band and I’m not positive that they have “LOWE’S”. I could be wrong.

Thanks for the comment and you are right about the insane falsetto notes. I couldn’t have said it better.

    See you around the site!
